Bus Operator
  (Full-time, Part-time)

Job Description

Responsible for the safe, reliable and timely operation of CARTA-owned vehicles as well as the safety of passengers, pedestrians and motorists.

Drives one of several different coaches in a safe, courteous and reliable manner along a designated route within a defined time schedule.

Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers.

Monitors fares deposited into the farebox, distributes transfers and dispenses information to passengers.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required with ability to read, write & speak English
• Perform basic mathematical procedures
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Two (2) years reliable work experience
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), class B, P endorsement
• Acceptable past driving record (MVR)
• Good physical and mental health, must pass DOT physical
• Ability to deal well with the public


Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Assists in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. Must be able to overhaul/repair any diesel-powered buses. Must be able to use precision instruments or gauges in checking clearances. Must have good knowledge of disassembly, diagnosis, and reassembly.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent
• a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class B with P endorsement
• ability to drive any CARTA-owned vehicle


Maintenance Attendant

Job Description

Responsible for daily cleaning and general service of transit buses, support equipment, and facilities; performing general housekeeping tasks as assigned; perform minor repairs to transit buses and support equipment; performing other job related duties which are in keeping with the goals and objectives of CARTA.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class B with P endorsement
• Ability to drive any CARTA-owned vehicle
